Short Haircuts
According to Short
Styles Magazine, Spring 2015 issue, there are 4 keys to a great short haircut:
1. Ask the stylist to work with your natural texture and pick a cut that works best with it. Having a heavily layered haircut for someone with thick curls will encourage natural movement and look great. For straight hair, try a sleek shape.
2. After towel drying your hair and distributing the hair product, comb it out. To let most of the moisture dry, allow your hair to dry 80%. Your blowout will be much easier and be great.
3. It is important to not skimp on products. Pick the best products for control and texture and remember that short hair needs product as much as long hair to get the best styling results. There are many great products to pick from.
4. Your stylist should pay attention to the shape of the perimeter of your hair. The eyes naturally go to that area, and you want your stylist to cut your hair with soft, broken lines around the edges for a more feminine look. Your stylist can use a razor, or texturizing shears.

Advice about Bobs:
At Katie's Korner Salon, it's important to us that you look your best. When doing a bob, it needs to flatter your face shape. Here are some tips for a great bob from HairStyle Showcase magazine:
1. If your face is heart shaped, the ends should be curled under a bit, and the hair should hit at the chin. This creates fullness. If you have a higher forehead, bangs will help to hide it.
2. If your face is round, many think a bob is not possible, but it can work if done right. Soft, angled bangs and a side part are desirable. Add some height on top, and add some choppy, straight pieces in the front.
3. If your face is square, a side part with side bangs and ends that are turned under is flattering. If you have a long neck, hair should hit just below the chin. For a short neck, hair should hit just above the chin.
4. If you have an oblong face, follow the rules for a square shaped face. If your face is rounder, go a bit longer on the hair.
5. If you have a pear shaped face, the length does not matter as much. Turn the ends under, and layer the bob. Add face framing in front. Do not wear bangs.
The Softer, Longer Bob:
These days, mid-length bobs are being updated with longer, soft layered bobs. Shorter bobs are being updated with choppier, broken up layers. The result is more movement than the classic cut blunt shape. There is more versatility with the newer bobs when hair is worn wavy or tousled.
